Ancient, Massive, Wild - the Bison!
The National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City is inextricably linked with that iconic beast of the North American prairie - the bison. As part of a special exhibition entitled "Ancient. Massive, Wild - The Bison” (February 8 - May 12, 2019) six related topics will be covered - from February 28 through April 4 - in a series of “Brown Bag Lunch” lecture events on these unusual animals. At lunchtime, between 12 noon and 1 o'clock, visitors can bring their own snack or buy cheap in the Museum Grill before enjoying the talks - "Bison as Popular Icon", "Bison in Wildlife Art", "The Destruction of the American Bison", "The Bison and its Meaningful Indigenous Cultures", "The Last Big Animals of the Great Plains" and "The Buffalo War".
